Elk River's Director of Tennis, Harold "H" Wetzel, played #1 singles and #1 doubles all four years at Upsala College in East Orange, NJ.  It was there that his career in teaching tennis also began.  H had the privilege of working with inspiring projects like Charles Lundgren’s “Camp Racquet” and Project Jersey, a tennis program for elite tournament players. Among other notable players, H coached 2 young men who went on to become ranked in the world in men's tennis for several years.

The education, experience and training H received while working with a variety of fine professionals has proven invaluable. In his study and practice of the game, H continues to learn not only how the game of tennis is evolving but how teaching the game has changed as well. “The one thing that I don’t change is my attitude that tennis is a great life sport. Learning and playing it should always be as much fun as possible. I try to keep my lessons geared to the success of each individual student so they have a positive experience that will keep them coming back to the courts.”  H has a very successful track record of building tennis programs because of his passion for the game, positive attitude, great enthusiasm and genuine interest in the people he is working with. We are very excited to have H lead our team of professionals.

Whether you are a weekend player or tournament tough, tennis at Elk River is a top-flight experience.
